The Consultation: The first appointment is a consultation to show you how veneers can change your smile. Together, you and Dr. Yoshimaru will pick a color, shape and size for your new smile. Impressions are taken for the laboratory to make a mockup in wax of your teeth. A series of photographs are also taken at various angles to ensure the best outcome.
Dr. Yoshimaru will work with you to make any adjustments in their appearance. Once you have approved the mock up, the treatment begins.
The Preparation: At the preparation appointment, Dr. Yoshimaru will numb your teeth with local anesthetic so that you are comfortable and do not feel any pain. The teeth are then shaped to accommodate the very thin but very strong laminate veneer.
An impression is then taken to make a working stone model for the dental laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed on the teeth in order to protect your natural teeth. The temporaries are usually fabricated from the mock up to help you get used to your new teeth. Patients are ecstatic with the look of the new temporaries. The permanent ones are even better!

To repair larger areas of tooth damage or decay, inlays and onlays are sometimes preferred over dental fillings because they will increase the strength of the tooth. Often times, inlays and onlays are preferred over crowns because patients don't want their tooth ground down. Inlays fit inside of the tooth, while onlays cover more of the tooth's outer surface. The restorations can be made of gold, porcelain or resin. They are custom made in a laboratory like a crown, but involve the removal of less tooth structure. These restorations are being used more often today to restore teeth to their natural state.
The Procedure: It takes two or more appointments to make an inlay or onlay. At the first appointment, your tooth will be numbed so that you are comfortable and don't feel any pain. Then the tooth is shaped with the dental drill to precise proportions. An impression is then taken to make a working stone model for the dental laboratory.
During the time that the laboratory is creating your new restoration, you will have a temporary restoration in your mouth. At the next appointment, the temporary is removed, and the new restoration is tried on to make sure it fits well.
Dr. Y will then check your bite to make sure you can floss adequately, and check to be sure that the color is a good match to adjacent teeth. If everything is correct, Dr. Y will bond or cement your new inlay or onlay in place.
Results: Inlays and onlays will last for many years.

Dental implants are a great way to replace teeth that are missing as the result of tooth decay, periodontal disease, or an accident. Implants look and feel like your own teeth. They are very strong, so you rarely have to worry about them breaking. Since they are placed between other teeth, it is not necessary to grind down healthy teeth, as is needed in preparation for a bridge.
The Dental Implant Procedure: The procedure of getting dental implants starts with x-rays and models of the mouth to measure the bone in the jaw and make sure there is enough healthy bone to place an implant. It takes multiple appointments to restore your mouth with a dental implant.
A preferred inplant system that Dr. Yoshimaru uses is Nobel biocare.
At the first appointment, your mouth will be numbed so that you are comfortable and don't feel any pain. The gum covering the implant site is lifted up, and the titanium implant is fitted into the bone. The gum tissue is then sutured back to place, covering the implant.
With the titanium implant in place, a temporary bridge may be used to provide the look of a tooth while the implant site is healing. During this time, your jaw bone will grow into the implant and secure it in place, a process known as osteo-integration.
It will take anywhere from 4 to 12 months for the implant to be integrated into the bone. The implant is then uncovered, and it is necessary to go through a series of steps which include placing a post in the implant, taking impressions, and having the laboratory fabricate your new tooth.
Certain people are not good candidates for implants. These include uncontrolled diabetics, heavy teeth grinders, heavy smokers, and heavy drinkers. Those people with poor oral hygiene are also not good candidates as this is one of the most common causes of implant failures.
Results of Dental Implants: The implant that was inserted into your bone is permanent; however the tooth that was made to fit into it may need to replaced in 5 to 10 years.
